Landowners have started an initiative to open a mahogany business in Tailevu in the near future.
Nukurua Mahogany landowners met at Verata Wailevu yesterday to collect funds.
Spokesperson Ratu Netava Tagi said the initiative was a long time dream of six districts that collectively own the mahogany plantations in the Nukurua area.
We are trying to collect a total of $150,000 so we could finance our own company when the time is right, Ratu Netava said.
