VODAFONE SEEKS SETTLEMENT WITH FIJI GOVERNMENT
SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, March 15) - The interim government is currently looking at a request by Vodafone Fiji for an out of court settlement over its exclusive license to operate a mobile telecommunications business in Fiji.

Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum did not say when Government will reply to Vodafone Fiji managing director Aslam Khan's letter on February 21, 2007.

The parties have until April 30, since the matter is set for mention in the High Court before Justice Jiten Singh.

Vodafone had challenged the State's issuance of provisional licenses to Digicel and Pacific Connex to operate in Fiji's lucrative mobile phone industry. It is now pursuing a more convenient out of court of settlement due to the prolonged legal battle and costs.
